While much of a producer’s time is spent deciding which soybean variety is the best for their farm, many other decisions have a large impact on how the variety will perform.
Proper fertility, good inoculation and a high quality seed treatment allow your soybean seed to perform to its full genetic potential.
Evergol Energy Stress Shield is a soybean seed treatment from Bayer CropScience that contains 3 active ingredients from 3 different fungicide groups. Penfluflen is a “new” group 3 fungicide that is used in Evergol Energy to provide class leading rhizoctonia control. With the addition of Prothioconazole and Metalaxyl you are fully protected from fusarium and pythium as well. These are three of the main diseases we need to protect our soybean seed in Manitoba.
Using a seed treatment should not be done with an expectation of a large yield increase, but rather as a hedge against poor or failed stand and the enhancement of early season vigor of established seedlings. This alone is often worth the expense of seed treatment to ensure even germination and getting the plant populations you are striving for.
